Delightful Duos Chalkboards

One of the classes I recently held in my home was the first class in the Delightful Duos series.  In the Delightful Duos classes, we will be making two of each item...one to keep & one to give away.  In this particular class, we made Decor Element Chalkboards.  

I wanted the girls to be able to use their own creativity so they had a choice of Designer Paper and embellishments to use.  Below are some of the completed projects they created.  The chalk holder at the bottom of the boards is actually a business card holder from Target!   I think they all did an excellent job.

 

   

More Fun with Décor Elements

As I promised yesterday, I am back to share more fun and creative ways to use our Décor Elements. 

Do you need a quick, easy and inexpensive Christmas gift?  I have just the project.  I purchased the "Jingle All the Way" Décor Element (small) in both red and chocolate then used the words from one and the image from the other.  Combined with a 4x6 piece of Designer Paper and a double acrylic frame, you can make this very personal gift for your friends to use with their favorite Christmas photo.  Or even better, make it a point to visit a friend a week or so before Christmas, take a picture together and then surprise them with the picture framed as follows...

Then you can use the remaining pieces in another project.   See how I used the other pieces by clicking HERE.

For a more elegant gift, I purchased this tray at Target for $20 and applied the Giving Thanks Décor Element (large).  I like the idea that the Décor Elements come in different color schemes as well. 

Of all the Décor Elements that we carry, my current favorite is the children's line of mult-colored designs.  Wild About You is absolutely adorable.  Another way to use the images without applying them to the wall is to apply them to canvas boards.  This is also a great idea if you want to give them as gifts.

If you own our Big Shot die cut machine and alphabet die, you could easily personalize these boards with a child's name by using our Vinyl Sheets that come in White, Chocolate and Kraft.

Fun with Décor Elements

The more I play with Décor Elements the more I enjoy them.  With our Holiday Gift-Giving Guide Promotion, I found myself experimenting with them more than usual.  (Between now and January 4, 2010, you can get a free Décor Elements valued at $16.95 or less with a $50 purchase from our Gift Giving Guide.) 

 

 

What I love about Décor Elements is the variety of our collection and the variety of ways they can be used.  What I don't love about them is that they are one-time-use only so if you apply them to something and decide you need or want to remove them, you then have to toss them out.  That is okay with me if I am indeed putting them on my walls because I know I will be happy with them there for a long time.  But if I wanted to use them as a Holiday decoration for instance, I didn't like the idea that at the end of the Holiday, they would have to be removed and discarded.  

 

Then, I saw someone apply them to acrylic sheets and a whole new world of ideas opened up for me.  I loved the idea of putting the snowflakes in my window but instead of applying them to the window, I applied them to acrylic sheets and hung them from the curtain rod.  Now I can take them down when winter is gone, pack them away and bring them out again next year.  My friend, Janet Wakeland,  made "jar wraps" using the same idea so she could decorate her large candy jars for team events but instead of storing several jars with different designs, she uses the same jar and changes the acrylic jar wraps.

I made the project above by purchasing a small wooden tray and applying the free Level 1 Décor Element from the previous catalog.  In the Definately Decorative catalog, you will find FREE Décor Elements for your kitchen canisters (Level 1) or a fun but elegant reindeer named DASHER to help decorate your home for the Holidays.  You can apply Dasher to your front door, your windows, a mirror, glass table top or try a glass pane in a picture frame if you want to put him away after the holidays and bring him back again next year. 

The Décor Elements are easy to remove and but are designed for "one-time" use only.

Conquering Time Management

Having my own Stampin' Up! business is very fun, rewarding and, on a scale of 1 to 10, definitely rates a TEN PLUS!!  I can even have fun doing the "business" side of the job.  When I needed a plan to prioritize my time, my SAM (Service Account Manager)* suggested a white board where I could list the top 10 things I wanted to accomplish each day.   A few months ago I attended a Remarkable Stampers team event in York and saw a fun project where a kitchen tile was used to make a dry erase board. I decided it would be the perfect answer to helping me keep track of my priorities each day.

In the project, I used a "glossy" kitchen tile, Faith*Love*Hope*Life Décor Elements (small) in Chocolate Chip, Felt Fusion Flowers, vanilla brad, Designer Paper (to wrap pen), Pretty in Pink Taffeta ribbon, dry erase pen and pop-up glue dot to attach felt fusion flower and pen bracket.

Note:  When a demonstrator reaches certain levels of accomplishment in their business, Stampin' Up! rewards them with a personal Service Account Manager (SAM) to assist with any problems you may be experiencing, to help you set and reach goals, to motivate and inspire you, to help you track your progress...just like having a personal assistant...a great perc in any business.    

Décor Elements * Nursery Necessities

At the "Get Acquainted" event that I held on September 30, I introduced two of our newest products...the Big Shot die cutting machine and Phase 2 of our Décor Elements.  I had several of the 50 different materials that can be used in the Big Shot.  Each person that attended made several items using the Big Shot and then I demonstrated how easy it is to use the Décor Elements. 

I love the Nursery Necessities border which is available in different sizes and different colors.  Even thought I don't have a baby, I chose to use the Chocolate Chip border, cut it apart and decorated several nursery items.  In this picture, I have painted a wooden box and applied the elephant to the top.  I plan to make a mini scrapbook album using the Nursery Necessities stamp set to fit inside along with baby mementos such as a lock of hair, fingerprint and feet print card, etc.  I used the little chick to decorate a glass jar that will store Q-Tips and cotton balls.  The last project (not pictured) is a wooden tray also painted blue with the sailboat applied to it that can store baby powder, baby washcloths, diaper wipes, etc.  I still have one element left which is a half moon.  It would be a cute addition to add to the head of the crib, on the dresser or mirror.
