I often hear the comment from my customers about how much they love Stampin' Up punches. If you feel the same, you will love the Level 2 Hostess stamp set appropriately titled Christmas Punch. There are seven stamps in the set and they are designed to match our punches (pg 186 & 187) making it quick and easy to add simple elements to your greeting cards.
The card above was made using a fun technique I saw demonstrated at the Virginia Beach Regionals in 2008. I don't remember the presenter (sorry) but loved the technique. She made a plaid design by using the edge of a brayer, rolling just the edge in the ink and rolling it in a stripe design on the paper. On this card I used Always Artichoke, Ruby Red and Chocolate Chip classic ink. (The actual colors in the post appear to be a bit "off".)
I also used Stampin Dimensionals on the back of each tag and on the back of the Close to Cocoa background to give the card some dimension. Other supplies used include:
- a blender pen for erasing the stripes on the hat and coloring direct to rubber with a marker using the contrasting color
- Red/White gingham ribbon
- Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Whisper White and Close to Cocoa cardstock
- Real Red and Close to Cocoa ink/marker.
I used the snowflake stamp in the set to stamp on the Cocoa strip and want to point out that the Snowflakes can be PUNCHED OUT using the BOHO BLOSSOMS punch...I love that!!
I was having so much fun with the Christmas Punch set that I decided to create some matching tags to go with the card. I learned how to make this cute project at the Founder's Circle Retreat last year.
I used a small cello bag for the pocket and our large Oval punch to create the "handle". I used Real Red wide grosgrain ribbon for embellishment. I duplicated the plaid design for the background piece and filled the bag with several punches. Another cute idea would be to use all the punches in the set to create even more tags.
