These are just a few of the beautiful projects Shelli Gardner, CEO of Stampin' Up!,  brought to the Leadership Conference to share with everyone.  As I mentioned in the last post, Shelli loves anything vintage and her work definately portrays that love. 

We were all amazed as she explained what she does to create this style of art.  In several projects, she used pages out of old books to add to the authenticity of the vintage artwork.  She also uses stenciling quite often.  I'm sure she was the main influence in having stencils added to our Definately Decorative line of products.  If you haven't seen them yet, be sure to download the Definately Decorative catalog which you will find in the left column of my blog.  Just click on it to download.

Cool Projects I Spotted at Leadership

Shelly Gardner, CEO and Founder of Stampin' Up! LOVES anything vintage and you can see it in the way she creates.  In this project, she showed us how to use a bone folder to break down the cardstock fibers in the punched flowers to give them a three dimensional look.  She then used several different size layers in her flowers and then used buttons, brads and the Sweet Pea stitched felt as centers to add more character and dimension. 

The background was made using an Emboss Resist technique, sponging and wheeling.  She also used tearing and an emery board to "antique" her project.

This project uses our new On Board Bird Book (size in the catalog is deceiving...they are 6" wide).  They make adorable mini albums, table decorations or banners (8 to a package).  They also come in the shape of a heart and scallop circle.

Cover with Designer Paper, sand the edges and embellish to your heart's content. 

I think this card is gorgeous.  It uses the Vintage Vogue stamp set (item #117690 - wood) in the Occasions Mini Catalog, the coordinating Very Vintage jumbo wheel (item #117693) and the FREE Sale-a-Bration Scallop Trim Border (item #118402).

These adorable projects are made using the Eggcellent Eggs Kit found on page 23 of the Occasions Mini.  Because my kids are grown and I don't dye Easter eggs any longer, this kit was not even on my radar until I saw the projects that the very creative Patty Bennett demonstrated at the Conference.

Impressions Folder

I'm starting to think Valentine's Day already so here's a card I came up with when I was just playing around.  The heart is made using the Finial Press Impressions Folder (#115963) and the Full Heart punch (#113693).  I used a Sponge Dauber to dab Pink Passion over the surface and then dabbed it with  Platinum Shimmer Paint.  I attached the heart with a Stampin' Dimensional.

To make the tag, I used the Two Tags Sizzix die cut, sponged it with Pink Passion.  For the background, I used the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions folder (available 1/5/10) with Pink Passion cardstock on the bottom.  Layer it onto Pixie Pink cardstock and wrap with white grosgrain ribbon.  Then attach to a Whisper White card.

Pretties Flower Meets Razzleberry Lemonade

After spending time in my garden this summer, I got inspired to create this card but forgot to post it.  This was a fun card to make even if I did end up with "inky fingers" from dying the Silk Flowers (part of the Pretties Kit).  I thought with the cold, rainy weather lately (East Coast), this might be the perfect post to chase away the Rainy Day Blues.

I learned the technique at a Regionals Event last year in Virginia Beach and it has taken me this long to finally try it.  There are just so many new techniques and things to try that there is never enough hours in the day to do them all. 

For this technique, I used my large circle punch (1 3/4") to create a circle in the middle of a piece of light cardboard.  I laid the cardboard over my Real Red ink pad and then laid the Pretties flower on top of the cut out circle.  I then used a sponge dauber to press the flower into the red ink so that just the center of the flower was inked.

I used another sponge dauber and my Summer Sun ink pad to ink up the rest of the flower and used an
Aqua Painter to blend the two colors together. 

I made the Summer Sun circle by stamping in Versamark FIRST then Real Red ink, sprinkled with Clear EP and heated.  I used a Crimper and my large oval punch to create the leaves and a scrap of Old Olive cardstock to create the stem.  The Hugs & Kisses stamp is from the All Holidays stamp set.

The card base is made using Dusty Durango cardstock and the DSP is Razzleberry Lemonade mounted on Crushed Curry cardstock.  ENJOY!

Totally Techniques Class Samples

I love the Dancer stamp used to make this card.  The reindeer is cute  yet elegant and I find that such a unique combination.  This card was made in my Totally Techniques series as a sample of the Masking Technique.  The next class in this series will be in February.  If you love learning techniques, check back for an upcoming class list to be posted soon.

I always teach two techniques at my Totally  Techniques class and make a technique page to accomodate each card so that my customers have a resource to refer to when they want to use the technique again. 

This is the second card that we made using the Personalized Plaid technique.

Chalked Grid Lines Technique

I currently teach a Totally Techniques class in my home.  One of the lastest techniques I taught was the  Chalked Grid Lines technique.  I liked the technique so much I volunteered to teach it to the ladies at our team meeting in York, Pa. this past October.  Here are some of the samples I produced to show them several ways to use the technique...

You can use Chalked Grid Lines as a background on your cards or

as an element to highlight your card front.

 

It's fun to use the technique with punches to make a unique design.

This is one of my favorites.  I stamped on top of the Chalked Grid Lines.

An Alligator Swallowed My Hand

Well the alligator didn't really swallow my hand but I had to have some really good reason as to why I haven't posted on my blog for so long and I thought that would get your attention.  LOL!!

My husband and I went to visit our son and 3 yr old granddaughter in Sweden.  We have been back for a month but between having company and other commitments, I kept putting the blog on the back burner.  So today I'm going to try to make up for my long absence. 

First, please indulge me while I brag on my little granddaughter by posting one photo...I can't resist.  She's a happy little girl and I already miss her sooooo much.

This card was made with the Diamond Dust Technique.  The Bermuda Bay ribbon is from the new In Color Polka Dot Collection.  It was attached with one of the clips from our Clip Collection.  The stamp set is For All You Do and I also used a Texturz Plate to create the dry embossing on the background.

To recreate the Diamond Dust technique, stamp the image on cardstock.  Cover the entire image with Versamark. Sprinkle with Iridescent Embossing Powder and emboss with heat tool.

 

This was a fun card to make but I am not the original creator.  I saw this card on someone's blog and the first thing I thought when I saw the black dots was "I didn't know we had a polka dot stamp."    Then I realized we don't...can you guess how they were created??  The stamp set used in this card is Eastern Blooms but the stem came from a different set...I think For All You Do if I remember right but you can use any stem to recreate.

Totally Techniques & Big Shot Class

I am excited to announce the Totally Techniques Class...a new series of classes which will concentrate on stamping techniques.  The first class will be held on August 11 at 6:30 p.m.and the cost is only $10 (will be credited toward a $35 order the night of the class.)  In each class, participants will learn two new techniques and make two projects using the new techniques.  Each person will receive a printed technique page that can easily be stored with the card in our 6x6 scrapbook album which you can purchase the night of class at 10% off.
